Two new firms to occupy former Molex plant in Shannon

UMR Group a company who specialises in metal recycling and site revitalization has predicted hundreds of jobs likely to be created in the Shannon area. This comes after an announcement last week of UMR Group securing their first tenant for their most recent property purchase Bay 146-147, Shannon Ind Estate. Ireland’s largest Medtech company, Aerogen Ltd is to establish a manufacturing operation in Shannon, in which they will partially occupy the 205,000 square foot facility, seeing 100 jobs being created as a result. Tony Donlan built on this and added that UMR Group are in advanced talks with another company who are hoping to sign contracts and move onsite in the coming months with the creation of 50 more jobs. This is a major boost for the site after the announcement in October 2019 in which Molex decided to cease operations at the plant resulting in the loss of 500 jobs.
